Product Cutaways for Trade Shows and Investigations
As San Diego’s largest waterjet shop, we’ve worked with many companies to create product cutaway views of their products or investigate internal structures or bond adhesion. This can be used to detect voids, delaminations, examine 3d prints, and for trade shows. The waterjet is the ideal cutting tool for product cutaways because saw blades can rip and tear pieces from the cutaway. We can waterjet cut any material or mix of materials at the same time. We are generally limited to 8″ of total cut height, but contact us because we could potentially cut up to about 12″ at a substantial cost increase. We’ve done investigational or trade show cuts in aerospace parts, spacecraft / satellite parts, biotech parts and filters.
We’ve had customers cut open golf clubs to inspect enclosed silicone dampers. We’ve cut various multi material composites and laminates where we inspected for silicone / aluminum adherence, as well as investigating metal screens embedded in silicone samples.
